A design error in a signaling system is the cause of the train accident in China. Premier Wen Jiabao Thursday urged working harder to develop technologies that are “more secure and reliable.”
According to official announcement, a design error in signaling system is the cause of the train accident which claimed 39 lives. During a visit at the accident scene in Zhejiang Province, Premier Wen Jiabao promised a transparent investigation. In addition, those responsible should be severely punished, said the prime minister. He also said he was “confident in China’s future.”
The manufacturer of the faulty signal equipment, the Beijing Railway Research and Design Institute for Communication and Control Systems, published an apology on its website, saying it will cooperate in the investigation and take responsibility.
