Former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin Sunday attended commemorations on the centennial of the Xinhai revolution in China, making his first public appearance since the rumors of his death in summer.
Jiang Zemin, 85, was sitting alongside other senior Chinese Communist Party leaders, at a ceremony hosted by President Hu Jintao in Beijing and broadcast live on national television.
Rumors about the death of the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the State had circulated in July when he had not participated in the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the CCP on July 1. Media in Hong Kong and Japan had shortly announced his death, information strongly denied by the official Xinhua news agency.
