Macao’s unemployment rate for the period of April to June 2012 increased slightly to 2.1 percent, as there were more people looking for job during the Summer Holiday, according to the figures released on Friday by the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The figure was up by 0.1 percentage point over the previous period of March to May 2012, said the DSEC.
The number of the unemployed increased by 300 from the previous period to 7,200, with 10.2 percent being fresh labor force entrants searching for their first job, the figures indicated.
The employed population increased by 1,300 over the previous period to 339,000, in which employment of the gaming sector registered increase, while transport, storage and communications sector saw decrease, the DSEC said.
