According to official statistics published by the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs on Monday at 10:00, floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains in southern China have claimed 105 lives and 63 missing over the last ten days.
Chinese meteorological authorities said Monday more extreme precipitations are expected to come, after flooding caused by torrential rain in central and southern China. About 170 were reported dead or missing.
In just one week, the center of China has gone from absolute drought to floods that have killed more than 100 and 40 missing.
More than 600 cases of lead poisoning were reported in eastern China, which regards a hundred children under 15 years, reported Xinhua news agency Sunday.
