China seeks release of ships detained by Russia

China is currently negotiating with Russia to arrange the release of two detained Chinese fishing vessels and their crew.

The Foreign Ministry says China hopes the two sides can solve the dispute, while keeping in mind the friendship between the two nations. The diplomatic wrangling follows the Russian coast guard’s seizure of two Chinese ships fishing in Russia’s exclusive economic zone.

It has also been reported that another two Chinese fishing ships have also been detained off Russia’s Far-east Region.
