Premier Wen Jiabao has returned to Beijing after attending the 11th prime ministers’ meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Kyrgyzstan and the 17th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian prime ministers in Moscow. The trips were also part of two official visits.
During his trip to Russia, both countries signed a number of agreements, with a focus on energy and trade. The deals took on special importance as both countries are eyeing further growth against the backdrop of the global economic downturn.
Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi says Premier Wen Jiabao’s trip to Kyrgyzstan and Russia has deepened solidarity and mutual trust and boosted the convergence of interests between China and its two neighboring countries.
Yang described Wen’s visit as a successful trip for consolidating relations. The trip has also boosted regional cooperation among SCO member states.
